Recommended candidates are now ordered by how well they fit the job

The Recommended candidates list on a job now orders people by how closely their background matches the role, and shows up to 50 suggestions whenever enough candidates qualify.

What changed

Suggested candidates, the page opened by the Suggested button on a job’s board, now orders people by how closely their resume profile matches the job. The job’s work-mode, licence and category requirements still apply first, so people who cannot do the role are still left out. People outside the job’s commute radius are ranked lower rather than hidden.

Jobs now get a full list of up to 50 suggestions whenever enough candidates meet the job’s requirements; the Suggested candidates page lists all of them grouped by fit, each with its match score. Before, strict cut-offs could leave a job with only a handful of suggestions, or none, and the list was easy to miss on the job page. Distance appears beside each person; the page currently has no distance filter or Rerun control.

Why we changed it

We checked the new ordering against past jobs, looking at the people recruiters went on to submit, interview and place. Those people showed up in the top ten about half again as often as they did with the old ordering, and more of them appeared in the top 25.

How to use it

Open a job and choose Suggested, just left of the search field on its board, to open Suggested candidates. A list builds automatically the first time you open Suggested candidates for a job that has none, including older jobs; you will see a short loading state while it is prepared. After that the list stays as it is; it does not rebuild on its own when the job or your candidates change. People who are already in the job’s pipeline can appear too, marked “In pipeline” in place of the add button on the Suggested candidates page, because the list shows the best fits whether or not someone has already been added. Nothing needs to be switched on.

Boundaries to know about

Ranking is based on resume profiles, so a candidate without a processed resume cannot be ranked and will not appear. Custom score weights no longer change the order of this list; they still apply to other scoring in RecruitIQ. The list is a starting point for your search and does not replace your own judgement about who to contact.
